Become an NAEMT Lighthouse Leadership Mentor – Apply Today
The Lighthouse Leadership Program provides an opportunity for an experienced EMS professional to become a mentor, offering career and leadership development to a program mentee through teaching and coaching, inspiring and motivating, providing constructive and corrective feedback, managing risk and networking.
Mentor Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of leadership, supervisory and management experience.
- A bachelor’s degree.
- Specific technical expertise to effectively guide others.
- Required soft skills and work life balance that will resonate with the mentee.
- Effective mentorship background and skills, including but not limited to great verbal communications skills, the ability to build trust and offer encouragement, and guide the development of their mentee’s vision and goals.
- Understands the roles and responsibilities of effective mentorship.

Mentor Responsibilities:
- Actively participates in the Lighthouse Leadership Program (18-month program), including an orientation for newly selected mentors.
- Committed to meeting with their mentee on a regular basis.
- Being prepared and ready to provide guidance during each mentor session.
- Advising their mentee through their Capstone project process.
- Committed to the development of a professional relationship with their mentee based on mutual trust and respect.
- Strongly encouraged to attend educational program offerings with their mentee, including educational leadership workshops and monthly journal club.
- Strongly encouraged to sign up to facilitate or lead one (1) monthly journal club session.
Individuals interested in becoming a Lighthouse Leadership Program mentor should complete the application form for consideration. We accept applications on a rolling basis and for future consideration. Once submitted, the Lighthouse Leadership Program Committee will evaluate your application to determine whether your application contains the specific qualities sought to fill the current and specific mentor requirements. We select mentors based on how well their qualifications align with the needs of the cohort of mentees entering the program.
