On December 16, 2010, U.S. House Representatives Tim Walz (D-MN) and Sue Myrick (R-NC) introduced H.R. 6528, the Field EMS Quality, Innovation and Cost-Effectiveness Improvement Act.
The bill was introduced at the request of Advocates for EMS, of which
NAEMT is an organizatiaonal member. Among other things, H.R. 6528 would
designate the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration
(NHTSA) as the lead Federal agency for EMS, establish several grant
programs for different aspects of EMS and authorize demonstration
projects on medical transports to facilities other than hospitals.
