At EMS Today on March 8, NAEMT will be hosting a session on the “EMS Fitness Guidelines: It's Time To Get Healthy” from 3:45 - 5:15 pm.
Lack of physical fitness within our own EMS agencies contribute to injuries and an increase in chronic diseases. Did you know that EMS practitioners are seven times more likely than the average worker to miss work as result of injury? Or that one in four EMS practitioners will suffer a career-ending injury within the first four years of service? Or that back injury is the number 1 reason for leaving EMS?
NAEMT collaborated with the American Council on Exercise (ACE) to develop suggested physical fitness guidelines for EMS practitioners. These guidelines will help EMS agencies in recruitment and retention of EMS practitioners, and ultimately, will help reduce the number and severity of injuries on the job.
In the session, participants will learn about the research study that was conducted and the guidelines that were developed. Learn more and register here.
While you're at EMS Today, be sure to stop by the NAEMT booth, #635, in the exhibit hall to learn about your association's latest programs and activities.
