In a February 24th letter to Virginia House Delegate Kathy Byron, NAEMT provided its opposition to Virginia
House Bill 1010, which would drastically reduce the number of hours of training required for certification as an emergency medical services first responder (EMR) and technician (EMT). If passed and signed into law, this legislation would deny the people of the Commonwealth of Virginia access to high quality pre-hospital care because EMRs and EMTs would not receive the appropriate training to effectively serve their patients.
