NAEMT announced the winners of the inaugural Field EMS Bill
Advocate of the Year Award. This national award recognizes EMS professionals for outstanding
volunteer efforts to pass
H.R. 809, the
Field EMS Quality, Innovation and Cost-Effectiveness Improvement Act
(also known as the "
Field
EMS Bill"). Three nominees were selected to receive the award, which was presented
at EMS On The Hill Day on March 26, in Washington, D.C. The recipients of this year’s award are:
Jason White (Missouri)
White played an integral role in obtaining co-sponsors Rep. Luetkemeyer (MO-3)
and Rep. Graves (MO-6); obtaining letters of support from the Missouri EMS
Association and Missouri Ambulance Association; and leading a constituency
group of Missouri EMS professionals to Washington, D.C., to advocate for the
bill.
Gary McLean (Oregon)
McLean worked tirelessly to obtain co-sponsors Rep. Blumenaur (OR-3), Rep. Bonamici (OR-1), Rep. DeFazio (OR-4) and Rep. Schrader
(OR-5); and secured a letter of support from the Oregon EMS Association.
Jason Scheiderer (Indiana)
Scheiderer was responsible for securing the original Field EMS Bill sponsor, Rep. Buschon (IN-8), and co-sponsor Rep. Carson (IN-7); and obtaining a letter of support from the Indiana EMS Association and Putnam County Operation Life Agency.
In addition to the award, recipients receive their expenses paid to EMS On The Hill Day. NAEMT
congratulates and thanks the recipients for their determined support of the Field EMS Bill!
