While Dr. Norman McSwain’s passing leaves a great void for many – family, friends, colleagues, students and patients – we can all take part in remembering his significant contributions to his patients, his students, the science of trauma care, his home community of New Orleans, and the global community of mankind.

We have prepared the beginning of what will be a lasting tribute to Dr. McSwain, founder of NAEMT’s Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) program and the father of NAEMT education.
