Protecting Patient Access to Emergency Medications Act (H.R. 304) Passes the U.S. Senate

Oct 25, 2017

NAEMT thanks the U.S. Senate for passing H.R. 304, Protecting Patient Access to Emergency Medications Act of 2017!  This bill passed the Senate late last night by unanimous consent.

We applaud the commitment, leadership, and perseverance of House and Senate sponsors – Congressmen Richard Hudson (R-NC) and G.K. Butterfield (D-NC), and Senators Bill Cassidy (R-LA) and Michael Bennet (D-CO) for getting this bill completed.

H.R. 304 will ensure access to vital emergency medications for patients when they need it most and ensure that our work is not compromised. This bill codifies the use of standing orders in statute to ensure this vital care continues to be available to patients in need of emergency medical care.

The bill now moves back to the House for a vote and then onto the President’s desk for his signature.
