FEMA is pleased to welcome Dr. Lori L. Moore-Merrell, as the new Administrator of the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA). The USFA’s mission is to support and strengthen fire and emergency medical services and stakeholders to prepare for, prevent, mitigate and respond to all hazards.

Dr. Moore-Merrell most recently served as President and CEO of the International Public Safety Data Institute (IPSDI). Leading IPSDI since 2019 and after serving 26 years as a senior executive in the International Association of Fire Fighters, she was responsible for frontline interaction with elected officers, executive board members, state, provincial and local chapter leaders and individual organization members throughout the United States and Canada. Through her years of experience within the public health and safety sector, Dr. Moore-Merrell will bring her unique set of knowledge, skills and abilities to lead and manage USFA.
