SIREN Reauthorization Act Heads to President for Signature!

Sep 18, 2024

NAEMT is excited to announce the SIREN Reauthorization Act S. 265 (H.R. 4646) has passed both congressional houses and is headed to the President for signature. Once signed, this law will reauthorize the SIREN grant program for 5 years and provide public and non-profit EMS agencies and fire departments in rural areas access to grant funding for recruitment, retention, education, and equipment. NAEMT applauds the diligent efforts of Senate and House leaders – Sen. Dick Durbin (IL), Sen. Susan Collins (ME), Rep. David Joyce (OH), and Rep. Debbie Dingell (MI). We especially thank the collaborative and steadfast efforts of the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC), International Association of Firefighters (IAFF), the NAEMT Advocacy Coordinator Network, and NAEMT members who advocated on behalf of this important legislation. This is a big win for rural EMS and NAEMT members!
