Take Action Now – Support Quality Training for Our Nation’s Military Medics

Nov 07, 2018

Please support quality training for our nation’s military medics. Please ask your U.S. House Representative to sign onto a letter from Congressman Scott DesJarlais, M.D. of Tennessee, urging the Department of Defense (DoD) to implement standardized prehospital trauma care training across the US military.

Take Action Now

The U.S. Armed Services have required Medical Readiness Training (MRT) for many years, but there has been wide variation in how this requirement is met. On March 16, 2018, the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness issued DoD Instruction (DoDI) 1322.24 on MRT, requiring that all service members receive role-based Tactical Combat Casualty Care training and certification to meet the MRT requirement.

The letter urges the DoD to use a recognized, reliable system to ensure successful implementation of DoDI 1322.24. TCCC, as offered by NAEMT, is the only TCCC course endorsed by the Joint Trauma System and the American College of Surgeons. The foundational medical science upon which TCCC is based is published in NAEMT’s PHTLS Military textbook with the military chapters written by the Co-TCCC. NAEMT’s TCCC courses are also accredited by CAPCE and recognized by NREMT.

Thank you.
