Wins For EMS On Capitol Hill -- SIREN Act Signed and SOAR Bill Sent To President

SIREN Act Signed by President

We are very pleased to report that the SIREN Act has been signed by the Presidet as part of the Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018 (Farm Bill).

The Supporting and Improving Rural EMS Needs (SIREN) Act (S. 2830/H.R. 5429), introduced by Senators Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Pat Roberts (R-KS) and Representatives Greg Gianforte (R-MT) and David Loebsack (D-IA) in the House, reauthorizes a federal grant program to directly support rural EMS agencies, many of which are at the forefront of the opioid epidemic, in recruiting and training personnel and purchasing equipment for everything from naloxone and first aid kits, to power stretchers or new ambulances.


H.R. 767 / Stop, Observe, Ask and Respond (SOAR) Sent to President for Signing


H.R. 767 the Stop, Observe, Ask and Respond (SOAR) to Health and Wellness Act of 2018 is heading to the President for his signature. This bill would provide healthcare professionals, including EMS practitioners, training on how to identify and appropriately treat human trafficking victims. H.R. 767 passed the House today by a vote of 386 to 6 and passed the Senate previously.
