Hurricane Helene Triggers Temporary Closing of Baxter Plant and Likely Fluid IV Supply Shortage

Oct 03, 2024

NAEMT Members,

The devastation brought by Hurricane Helene has caused the nation’s largest manufacturer of fluid IV solutions to close. The flooding of Baxter International’s facility in Marion, NC caused the temporary suspension of production. Shortages of fluid IV solutions are likely and will be felt in EMS agencies across the country.

NAEMT is collecting information from our state affiliates and members, as well as federal agency contacts who oversee supply chain issues. We will continue to monitor the extent of any supply chain issues, reporting updates to you as information becomes available.

Until then, our thoughts remain with our EMS colleagues who are helping their communities recover from this destructive hurricane.

Be safe and support each other.
