NAEMT members play an important role in advancing the EMS profession through volunteer service and engagement. Members can get involved in several ways depending on interest, experience, and availability.
The NAEMT Volunteer Network connects members with opportunities to support the association through projects, assignments, committee service, and other activities throughout the year.
Volunteer opportunities may include:
Members interested in joining the NAEMT Volunteer Network or being considered for committee service may complete the NAEMT Volunteer Interest Form. Information may be used to match members with opportunities as needs arise throughout the year.
NAEMT committees help guide and support the work of the association in key areas aligned with NAEMT’s strategic priorities.
Members interested in committee service should indicate their areas of interest through the NAEMT Volunteer Interest Form. Committee appointments are typically made through NAEMT’s annual committee appointment cycle toward the end of the calendar year, though appointments may occasionally be made at other times based on organizational needs.
For additional information about the responsibilities and charges of each committee, refer to the NAEMT Policy & Procedure Manual.

Advocacy, Education, and Membership Coordinators support NAEMT initiatives within their states or regions and work closely with NAEMT staff and other volunteers. Coordinator roles involve a structured application and appointment process and may include responsibilities such as advocacy engagement, education support, or membership outreach within their respective areas.
Members interested in learning more about these roles and current openings may explore the programs here: Advocacy Coordinators, Education Coordinators, and Membership Coordinators.
We’re excited to introduce NAEMT Communities, a new member engagement and professional development program where you can get involved with no formal work obligations. Participation is flexible – join, listen, discuss, or don’t.
NAEMT Communities are member-led, members-only discussion groups designed to connect EMS professionals around areas of shared professional interest. Communities are intended to complement the formal work of NAEMT Committees by creating space for members to share ideas, challenges, and innovations from the field.
Communities Launched in 2026
NAEMT has launched the following initial Communities:
Each Community is facilitated by a volunteer chair and co-chair and meets via Zoom at a frequency determined by the chairs.
How to Participate
A calendar of meeting times is posted in the member portal of the NAEMT website. Members can simply register for the meetings they would like to attend. Participation in Communities does not require completion of the NAEMT Volunteer Interest Form.
NAEMT education programs are delivered through a network of approved EMS training centers and instructors. Becoming an NAEMT instructor is a meaningful way to share your knowledge, support EMS education, and give back to the profession.
Instructors must meet specific qualifications, complete required training, and be affiliated with an approved NAEMT training center. Members interested in becoming an instructor can review requirements, complete the application process, and explore available courses here.
Advocating for EMS is one of the most direct ways to get involved and make an impact. Through NAEMT’s Online Legislative Service (OLS), members can stay informed on key issues, connect with elected officials, and take action in just a few minutes by responding to Calls for Action and supporting priorities that affect the EMS profession.
