The following GEMS courses are offered to address the needs of providers and instructors:

Provider Course: This 8-hour classroom course is appropriate for EMTs, paramedics, emergency medical responders, nurses, physician assistants, and physicians. Students who successfully complete the course receive a certificate, a card recognizing them as a GEMS provider for 4 years, and 8 hours of CAPCE credit.

Online Instructor Update: This 1-hour instructor update is available to 2nd edition GEMS instructors to prepare to teach the 3rd edition and to current AMLS and PHTLS instructors who wish to become 3rd edition GEMS instructors. The update provides an overview of new and revised content in the 3rd edition and includes best practices in teaching the GEMS course. All GEMS, AMLS and PHTLS instructors who successfully complete this update will receive a 3rd edition GEMS instructor card. There are no monitoring requirements for AMLS and PHTLS instructors who complete the GEMS 3rd edition instructor update.
